The Delhi Metro network is a vast web of interconnected lines that cover almost every corner of the National Capital Region. Below is a detailed overview of the various color-coded lines that make up this world-class transit system.

Red Line (Line 1)

Route: Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) to Rithala

The Red Line was the first line of the Delhi Metro to be opened. It connects North East Delhi to North West Delhi. It is primarily an elevated line.

  • Key Stations: Welcome, Kashmere Gate, Inderlok, Netaji Subhash Place.
  • Coverage: Ghaziabad, Seelampur, Shahdara, Rohini.

Yellow Line (Line 2)

Route: Samaypur Badli to Millennium City Centre Gurugram

One of the busiest lines, it connects North Delhi to the commercial hub of Gurgaon in Haryana. It passes through some of the most densely populated areas of Delhi.

  • Key Stations: Azadpur, Kashmere Gate, Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, INA, Hauz Khas.
  • Coverage: North Delhi, Civil Lines, Old Delhi, Connaught Place, South Delhi, Gurugram.

Blue Line (Line 3 & 4)

Route: Dwarka Sector 21 to Noida Electronic City / Vaishali

The Blue Line is the longest line in the network, branching at Yamuna Bank to serve both Noida and Ghaziabad. It is a vital link for commuters from the eastern suburbs.

  • Key Stations: Dwarka, Janakpuri West, Rajouri Garden, Kirti Nagar, Mandi House, Yamuna Bank, Botanical Garden.
  • Coverage: West Delhi, Central Delhi, East Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad.

Other Important Lines

Violet Line: Kashmere Gate to Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh). Connects Central Delhi to Faridabad.

Pink Line: Majlis Park to Shiv Vihar. The "Ring Road" line that connects almost all other lines.

Magenta Line: Janakpuri West to Botanical Garden. Provides a direct link between West Delhi and Noida, passing through the Airport (Terminal 1).

Airport Express Line: New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21 (via IGI Airport Terminal 3). The fastest line in the network.

Important Interchange Stations

Interchange stations are the backbone of the Delhi Metro, allowing passengers to switch between different lines seamlessly.

  • Kashmere Gate: Red, Yellow, and Violet Lines.
  • Rajiv Chowk: Yellow and Blue Lines.
  • Central Secretariat: Yellow and Violet Lines.
  • Hauz Khas: Yellow and Magenta Lines.
  • Botanical Garden: Blue and Magenta Lines.
  • Janakpuri West: Blue and Magenta Lines.
  • Kirti Nagar: Blue and Green Lines.
